Dental veneers

Veneers in Clifton NJ

Dental veneers are an excellent option for getting rid of crooked and stained teeth. Porcelain veneers will change your smile. Veneers are basically thin shells of porcelains or composites, which are attached to the front surface of the tooth to restore the functionality and esthetic deficiencies. Natural looking veneers will give you the smile you always wanted. At Clifton Advanced Dentistry, we use the highest quality dental materials and we work hand on hand with the best ceramist (dental technicians) in the USA.

What Are Veneers Made of?

Veneers can be made from porcelain and composite resins. However, porcelain possess superior esthetics and longer clinical life in comparison to resin veneers. Therefore, they are more commonly use for smile enhancement.

What can Veneers Do for Me?

Veneers are one of the best cosmetic options available to dentists for enhancing facial esthetics and the smile. They are much less expensive than many other options like crowns or braces. You could have veneers made without reducing your teeth (Prep-less veneers). Veneers are useful in the following situations:

  •       Damaged and Fractured Teeth- If your teeth somehow got broken or fractured, veneers can cover them and give them a very aesthetic appearance. Apart from the better looks, fractured teeth get somewhat strengthened by the attachment of veneers to them.

  •        Chipped or Worn Teeth- Your front teeth which may have worn out or chipped can be given veneers to give them a superior aesthetic appearance and a measure of support.

  •       Discolored Teeth- Many people get their teeth discolored overtime, either due to poor oral hygiene or dietary habits. In some cases, these stains become permanent and they cannot be removed through professional teeth whitening. For such cases, dentists restore facial esthetics by placing veneers.

  •       Discolored Fillings in Front Teeth- Veneers are also very effective for covering discolored fillings, especially in the front teeth which are visible while smiling or speaking.

  •        Misaligned and Crooked Teeth- Misaligned teeth are noticeable when you smile. Veneers are an economical option for giving you an improved smile without the long months of wearing braces.

  •        Teeth with Gaps- And finally, if you have unseemly gaps between your front teeth, veneers will make the gaps appear just normal by closing it or at least making it almost imperceptible. If you cannot afford orthodontic treatment for closure of the gap, we will fix this problem by giving you veneers.

How Are Veneers in Clifton NJ Prepared?

Veneers are custom made by us for each patient to give them a customized smile makeover. Little or no anesthesia is required in the actual process of bonding since a very thin layer of the natural tooth structure is removed.

The procedure includes the following steps:

Smile Design- This is the most important step. Our dentists will discuss with you in detail, your options for enhancing your smile. Once you and our dentists decide that veneers are the best option for you, then we will prepare a detailed treatment plan which will be customized according to your dental and esthetic needs.

Teeth Preparation- Depending on each patient situation, the veneers are done in 2 ways:

a) Prep-less, which means that your tooth will remain untouched.

b) Minimally invasive veneers, which means that your teeth will be slightly reduce to make space for the new veneers. Your teeth must be trimmed slightly on the front to allow for the thickness of the veneer, which is normally half or less than half a millimeter. Sensitive patients may need local anesthesia. Further processes differ between composite and porcelain veneers. Note: for prep-less veneers there is no need of reducing your teeth.

Resin Veneers- resins veneers are prepared on the dental chairside. After teeth preparation, we will bond the the resin/composite and then sculpt it to make your smile makeover. The process is normally completed in one sitting (visit).

Ceramic Veneers- For ceramic veneers, the process is as follows:

    1.   Measurements Preparation- The dentist prepares a mold of your teeth and sends it to the laboratory for veneer preparation. Detailed specifications and instructions about material and color are also provided. In the meantime, temporary veneers may be attached.

    2.   Veneer preparation- the lab prepares the veneers as per instructions. It can take several days.

    3.   Placement- Once the veneers are received, the dentist checks them, removes the temporary veneers, and cleans your teeth thoroughly. The dentist tests the veneers for a fit and color/shade match. If satisfied, your dentist etches the inner surfaces of the new veneers, rinses and dries them, and then cements them in place. He or she cures the cement with a special light. After this, the dentist will carefully remove any excess cement.

Aftercare

After the first week of having the veneers done, a follow up visit is required. At this appointment, if the is any concern, it will be evaluated. To maintain this new smile, follow the advice below:

  • Brush and floss regularly.

  • Avoid abrasive toothpaste.

  • Minimize use of liquor, tobacco, coffee, and other staining intakes.

  • A follow-up visit in about one weeks will help to ensure everything is OK.

Life of the Veneers

With good care, veneers will normally last you for a long time, this will depend on each patinet home care.

Cost of Veneers
